Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are

Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are. Look back over your shoulder and check it out for real. If you’ve been spending too much time watching the mirror, you may have lost your sense of perspective. Yes, things happened to you. Did you experience them? Did you feel them? Did you deal with them? Did you move along?
By living your life right now you can experience what is happening. You can feel it. You can deal with it. You can move along.
You even have to time to occasionally glance up and check your GPS and adjust what direction you are headed in.
If you haven’t dealt with those objects in the rear view mirror then you need to do so or they will loom over you and never go away. They might in fact have hitched a ride and intend coming with you for the long haul. They might hide behind other memories, but they will pop up and surprise you until you release them.
Have you ever tried driving your car while looking backwards in the mirror? I have tried to live my life like that at some points. So distracted by the rear view mirror, I forgot to focus on what was happening and where I was going. I forgot to look at the scenery. I forgot to enjoy the drive.
Regain your sense of perspective. Turn around and confront any hitchhikers you may be unwittingly carrying, check out the scenery, maybe take over the wheel if you’ve been letting someone else do all the driving and choose a destination that lifts your spirits.
Step lightly – enjoy your journey.
